Kind of dumb the mini's can't talk to the genie using house wifi, given the genie is easily connected to house wifi and that would solve the can run coax anywhere, it just takes time and money" I have already tried, and failed, to get wifi between the buildings where the AP is on the inside wall of the closest part of the house, to a client on the closest part of the garage and that is with an enterprise (Cisco) AP, not some off the shelf gear. The garage, and home, are poured concrete walls with rebar and metal roof. I was hoping if mini and genie could talk via home wifi, problem solved, or barring that, cast to an AppleTV from my phone/tablet, but sounds like that is a no-go too. Home wifi works in the garage because I have a fiber optic cable to the garage which feeds an access point there. It would be a violation of national electrical code to run coax to it as that would effectively join the buildings electrically with different grounds, as the mini on the garage side would be powered and grounded from a different source/ground than the splitter/genie on the home side. I have a detached garage which has its own breaker panel and ground. "you can run coax anywhere, it just takes time and money"
